CleanTECH San Diego Hosts San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer
On Dec. 16, CleanTECH San Diego hosted its Meet & Greet with San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer as part of its Leadership Series. The program aims to educate Councilman Faulconer on the region’s cleantech cluster and provides CleanTECH San Diego Members with an opportunity to foster ties with the Councilman.
Four CleanTECH San Diego Members introduced Councilman Faulconer to their businesses by sharing their impacts to the regional economy.
- Will Berry of Car2Go, North America’s only all-electric carsharing fleet that just celebrated its second anniversary in the San Diego market.
- Dustin Reilich of Renovate America, that provides homeowners with low cost, long term financing for renewable energy systems and energy and water efficient products.
- Joe Mahler of Synthetic Genomics, that is working to commercialize genomic-driven technologies such as algae biofuels.
- Jim Avery of San Diego Gas and Electric, which ranks as the nation’s smartest utility three years in a row. Avery described the Smart City San Diego collaboration and its outcomes, specifically its pilot demonstration at the Solar-to-EV project at the San Diego Zoo.
Councilman Faulconer offered his support of San Diego’s clean technology industry, recognizing it as a powerful business opportunity. He also lauded CleanTECH San Diego for creating an incredible foundation upon which future cleantech successes will be built.
Special thanks to CleanTECH San Diego Board Member Latham & Watkins for co-hosting the event.
