Green Charge Networks Receives Top Energy Storage Award from FierceMarkets and Smart Grid News
Cleantech San Diego member Green Charge Networks, the largest provider of commercial energy storage in the US, won the Fierce Innovation Award for Energy Storage from FierceMarkets and Smart Grid News. Judges evaluated submissions based on technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, ability to integrate into existing network environments, and end-user customer experience. Green Charge was recognized for its industry-leading intelligent energy storage platform.
“Green Charge was founded on the principal that public and private institutions need more capabilities to manage their energy costs and capitalize on benefits they can provide to the grid,” said Vic Shao CEO, Green Charge Networks. “We are proud to be recognized as the leaders in innovation in the energy storage industry.”
Green Charge’s intelligent energy storage solution enables customers to manage demand and lower energy bills, and helps utilities and grid operators manage their networks. In 2013 Green Charge announced the industry’s first no-cost, shared savings offering – the Power Efficiency Agreement – where the equipment, installation, warranty, ongoing operations and maintenance are owned and operated by Green Charge, and the energy savings from the system are shared between the host site customer and Green Charge. This allows facilities to reduce energy costs with no capital output or ongoing costs. Green Charge has 31 Megawatt hours in contracts and customers include 7-Eleven, Walgreens, Kohls, Safeway, UPS, and more. Green Charge has an ecosystem of industry partners including SunEdison (solar), ChargePoint (EV charging), and Nissan (second life batteries) allowing customers to optimize their assets.
