Helping Entrepreneurs Bring Their
The San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster identifies innovative entrepreneurs that are developing solutions to the region’s priority energy needs and provides them with a customized plan that includes access to advisory support, technology commercialization services, and proof-of-concept and pilot testing. Selected entrepreneurs also have opportunities to connect with investors and companies that can assist in product commercialization and adoption. The program is the result of a five-year, $5 million California Energy Commission grant awarded to Cleantech San Diego in 2016 to further advance the San Diego region’s energy innovation industry.
Who is Eligible?
In order to be eligible for the San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster, companies must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must have a business office in California
- Must have a business presence in San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, or San Bernardino county
- Must ultimately deliver benefits to California ratepayers
- Must have a breakthrough energy technology in the domains of:
Energy Efficiency (envelope, lighting, HVAC, plugload, pumps)
Renewable Energy (hydro, wind, solar, geothermal, wave)
Energy Storage (mechanical, electrochemical, electrical, thermal)
Smart Metering/Smart Grid (hardware, software, data analytics, microgrids)
Transportation (electric vehicles, hybrids, infrastructure, software platforms)
Energy Services (energy planning, analysis, and management)
If your company does not meet these criteria, you may still apply for an opportunity to present your business case to a panel of Cleantech San Diego members.
