The San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster is a resource for innovative entrepreneurs that are developing solutions to the region’s priority energy needs. The free program provides entrepreneurs with customized service plans that access the facilities, training, and resources of a number of regional partner organizations (listed below) to help bring new energy innovations to market.
What Business Services Are Available?
The San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster engages with partners, regional stakeholders, and other local service providers to offer free business services customized to the unique needs of each company, including:

Who is Eligible?
In order to be eligible for the San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster, companies must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must have a business office in California
- Must have a business presence in San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, or San Bernardino county
- Must ultimately deliver benefits to California ratepayers
- Must have a breakthrough energy technology in the domains of:
Energy Efficiency (envelope, lighting, HVAC, plugload, pumps)
Renewable Energy (hydro, wind, solar, geothermal, wave)
Energy Storage (mechanical, electrochemical, electrical, thermal)
Smart Metering/Smart Grid (hardware, software, data analytics, microgrids)
Transportation (electric vehicles, hybrids, infrastructure, software platforms)
Energy Services (energy planning, analysis, and management)

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Applicants who pass the pre-screening process will be invited to present at an Entrepreneur Intake Session, where a selection committee will determine who is accepted into the program.

CalSEED and CalCEF
The San Diego Regional Energy Innovation Cluster is a partner in the CalSEED Initiative. Through the CalSEED Initiative, the California Clean Energy Fund (CalCEF) will distribute $25 million in Series A and Series B grants and provide a robust suite of business development services—business planning, research teaming, fund development, and mentoring—for emerging entrepreneurs.
