MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO
Cleantech San Diego was founded eight years ago on the premise that sustainable business practices are viable only if they make financial sense. Today, we are seeing that vision materialize in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Sensors are helping building managers make smart energy choices. Electric vehicles are cool and affordable. Storing renewable energy has become a larger question than how to generate it. And more than ever, governing bodies are setting clear and aggressive goals for greenhouse gas reductions that help drive the cleantech market in our region and beyond.
This year, we saw our Smart Cities San Diego initiative bring exciting new energy- and cost-saving Internet of Things technologies from global companies to landmark locations across the region. These high-profile cleantech deployments have done a great deal to advance San Diego’s position as a global smart city leader. They have brought increased attention to San Diego as a vibrant test bed for cleantech business solutions and have also lead to the successful expansion of our membership to include new players from across the regional and global cleantech markets. We expect significant results from future phases of these and other smart cities projects to come.
Cleantech San Diego thanks our stakeholders across the private-public-academic landscape for their visionary thinking and spirit of collaboration. We are fortunate to be part of a region with progressive businesses, municipalities, universities, and the military, all committed to advancing cleantech innovations.

The San Diego region is fortunate in that we are small enough to get things done, and large enough to make a difference.
