Cleantech San Diego and AWWEE Host Transportation Panel with Regional Experts
On Sept. 29, Cleantech San Diego partnered with the Association of Women in Water, Energy, and the Environment (AWWEE) to host a discussion about the latest developments in implementing SANDAG’s 2050 Regional Transportation Plan / Sustainable Communities Strategy.
The panel of speakers included:
- Todd Gloria, San Diego City Council President
- Kim Kawada, Chief Deputy Executive Director, San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG)
- April Bolduc, Plug-in Electric Vehicle Program Manager, San Diego Gas & Electric
- Elyse Lowe, Deputy Executive Director, Circulate San Diego
This group of experts addressed topics including alternative modes of transportation; land-use planning and design; the utility’s role in the growth of electric vehicles, energy, and technology; and policies promoting increased infrastructure investment and alternative transportation.
The overarching theme was one of passion for positive change and a call for San Diegans to speak up and take part in support of new transportation projects and progress in their neighborhoods. “Get off the sidelines and lean in,” urged San Diego City Council President Todd Gloria, who outlined politics, resources, and change as the three key factors driving San Diego’s transition to a transportation future with more viable and environmentally-responsible choices for consumers.
