Making Connections with San Diego’s Cleantech Startup Community

  |   Cleantech San Diego, Events, SCRUB, Startup

On August 13, CleanTECH San Diego held their quarterly SCRUB event featuring presentations from three exciting early-stage clean tech companies. Presenters sought business guidance and opportunities for networking within the San Diego cleantech industry. Their businesses plans addressed energy solutions ranging from wind power to batteries.

This SCRUB marked the first program featuring our new title sponsor the Moxie Foundation. The Moxie Foundation is dedicated to enriching and empowering individuals and communities by advancing educational achievement and entrepreneurial success, personal health, and the environment. We commend their commitment to developing entrepreneurs through incubators and other programs at regional colleges and universities and welcome their extension of these efforts to CleanTECH San Diego.

This quarter’s SCRUB presenters included:

  • Primo Wind provides a compact residential and commercial rooftop wind system that offers low profile, quiet, and efficient production of electricity.

  • Camston Wrather works to identify and secure historic mine properties overwhelmed with legacy and environmental contamination and deploys environmentally safe remediation and reclamation systems.

  • EndLiS Energy is led by a team of student entrepreneurs from San Diego State University who are developing the next generation battery chemistry of lithium and sulfur.

Denise Gitsham of public and government relations firm 7 Second Strategies provided an overview of the San Diego startup scene, highlighting opportunities for industry growth and collaboration across the greater San Diego region.

The CleanTECH San Diego SCRUB is a quarterly program hosted by the CleanTECH San Diego Capital and Resources Committee  and the Moxie Foundation to support local early-stage cleantech companies. SCRUB participants present their business plan and in return receive business guidance and key connections, including advice on access to capital, strategic partnerships, and professional services. CleanTECH San Diego members gain direct and regular exposure to the region’s new emerging technologies and an opportunity to ensure these companies are best positioned to succeed.
