Navy Engages with San Diego Cleantech Leaders

On Feb. 18, CleanTECH San Diego hosted a roundtable discussion at Harper Construction featuring Assistant Secretary of the Navy Dennis McGinn. At the meeting were a 18 CleanTECH San Diego members  —  a cross-section of regional industry leaders  — who shared their cleantech strengths and interests with Secretary McGinn in support of the Navy’s commitment to aggressively advancing its renewable portfolio. Topics discussed ranged from microgrids and biorenewables to energy storage and transportation. McGinn underscored the Navy’s commitment to energy efficiency across the board, with a goal of squeezing more war readiness out of every unit of fuel.

“San Diego is where so many good things are happening in this dynamic world of energy, said Secretary McGinn. “I learn something every time I come here.”  With regard to the Navy’s ongoing efforts to secure ever better environmental outcomes, “we are open for business,” he added.
