The City of Chula Vista, the second largest city in San Diego County, is among the region’s most progressive adopters of clean technology innovation and sustainable business practices.
With its latest Clean Energy Chula Vista financing program, the city has expanded its energy initiatives and commitment to using alternative energy sources. The City has saved thousands of dollars in energy costs with solar energy and was recently recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with an Organizational Leadership Award for its efforts to address and respond to climate change.
The Chula Vista City Council adopted its first Climate Action Plan in 2000, which has since served as a framework to address climate change, while creating numerous co-benefits such as utility savings, better air quality, reduced traffic congestion, local economic development, and improved quality of life.
