SCRUB Helps Four Early-Stage Businesses
On Nov. 13, CleanTECH San Diego’s Capital and Resources Committee convened its quarterly SCRUB event hosted Knobbe Martens. SCRUB candidates presented their business plans to solicit feedback and commercialization support. This quarters presenters included:
Secure E-Waste Solutions offers a highly secured customized solution for E-Waste needs. They securely remove intellectual property and e-waste through their transparent and well-documented process, making sure customer IP doesn’t end up in a landfill, overseas, or in the wrong hands.
Combined Power LLC has developed a patented technology platform, called Hyperlight®, that boosts agri-business, commercial, and industrial boilers and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) with on-site, low-cost solar steam. They plan to go to market in 2014 with high-margin sales of equipment along a trajectory of disruptive innovation.
United Wind is a leading provider of low-cost electricity through its unique WindLease™ platform, which enables rural property owners to immediately save, as well as lock in their energy costs, by leasing a consumer-scale wind turbine. Founded on the belief that wind energy must be affordable to compete with conventional, less sustainable energy sources, United Wind provides customers with wind energy options that save them money today and into the future.
Greenbutts is dedicated to solving the problem of litter caused by discarded cigarette filters by offering a viable and cost effective solution to the cigarette industry as well as the consumer. GreenButts has contracted with one of the preeminent nonwovens research and development institutions to create an all natural, rapidly biodegradable filter which can be mass produced using existing filter making machinery, making the transition as seamless as possible for all parties involve.
