Street Light Working Group Update

  |   Energy Efficiency, Intelligent Streetlights

Progress continues toward retrofitting all of San Diego County’s street lights. The City of Oceanside has placed their order for their 7,700 Phase 1 LED street light luminaires, which are on track to be delivered by the end of August, with installation slated to begin in September. The County of San Diego Department of Public Works issued an RFB to replace up to 3,500 cobra style street lights integrated with adaptive controls. Bid opening is scheduled for August 26. And the cities of San Marcos and Escondido continue their final due diligence in determining their best approach to proceed with street light retrofits. In parallel, SDG&E is working to complete the submission of the CPUC Advice Letter and Participation Agreement that will enable those jurisdictions that implement adaptive controls on their street light networks to benefit from an interim pilot “dimming tariff rate.”
