UC San Diego Engineers to Showcase Cleantech Innovations at Research Expo

  |   Events

Engineering graduate students at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering have long been champions for clean technology innovation and the adoption of sustainable business practices that benefit both the economy and the environment. On Thursday April 16, 2015, industry and government professionals, alumni and community members have the opportunity to hear from graduate students and faculty about cutting-edge research taking place behind the scenes at UC San Diego.

Every year, Research Expo features research posters by more than 210 engineering graduate students, fast-paced faculty talks, and a networking reception with faculty, students, industry partners and alumni. This year, nearly 50 of the posters showcase clean technology innovations. Topics include solar energy, wind energy, algae biofuels, and smart grid technology.

Attendees will also hear from professors leading four new research centers at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. The faculty talks will focus on innovative research in wearable sensors, extreme events research, sustainable power and energy, and visual computing. A talk by nanoengineering professor Shirley Meng will feature new perspectives for energy storage materials being pursued at the new Sustainable Power and Energy Center, which UC San Diego is in the process of launching. Meng is the Center’s Director.

Are you looking for high-potential, entrepreneurial engineers to join your team? Interested in getting an early look at trends in clean technology? You won’t want to miss this opportunity to connect and network with these innovators!
